Jordi Birosta, Engineer at Matrix’s Technical Office, Awarded for His Final Degree Project

10/10/2025

This October, Jordi Birosta, currently an engineer at the Matrix technical office, was awarded the Eusebi Molera* Prize for the best Final Degree Project (FDP) in engineering for the 2024–2025 academic year. The award recognises his proposal for an intelligent system to monitor the condition and performance of injection moulds through an Internet of Things (IoT) system, developed during his internship at Matrix.

Birosta began his collaboration with the company in July 2024 as an intern from the Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronic Engineering at UVic. In just under a year, he has fully integrated into the technical team and contributed an innovative perspective that impressed the jury of the Eusebi Molera Awards. The transition from internship to employment happened naturally, driven by the student’s skills and capabilities and Matrix’s desire to retain young talent from the local area.

The award ceremony took place on Thursday 9 October in Vic, as part of the 9th edition of the prize organised by the Col·legi d’Enginyers Tècnics Industrials i Graduats de Manresa (CETIM) and UVic-UCC. The jury highlighted the project’s applicability, innovation, and development potential.

At Matrix, we celebrate this recognition as a reflection of young talent and the importance of nurturing and retaining it. Congratulations, Jordi!
