The activity is part of the ongoing collaboration with Fundació Eduard Soler and included the participation of two students currently undertaking their dual training placement at Matrix.

On 23 October, Matrix Injection Moulds welcomed students from the Higher Vocational Training Programme in Design and Programming for Advanced Manufacturing from the Fundació Eduard Soler in Ripoll. The visit was led by Marc Sellas, process engineer at Matrix, who was previously both an engineer and a teacher at the educational centre.

During the visit, students had the opportunity to gain insight into Matrix’s industrial operations and processes. This vocational training programme prepares students to plan, programme, and oversee the manufacturing of equipment through machining and assembly, ensuring quality and safety throughout the process. It also includes training in product design and production tools for sectors such as plastic injection moulding, casting, and stamping.

The group included two students who are currently completing their dual placement at Matrix: Camila Rubio and Arnau Raigon. Both are in their second year of the programme and were able to share their first-hand experience of working at the company, both technically and educationally. Their contributions provided a realistic and relatable view of a dual training student’s daily life in a production environment.

Matrix’s relationship with the Fundació Eduard Soler goes back many years. In the mid-1970s, when the company was based in the centre of Ripoll, it shared premises with the former Soler i Palau Professional School, the predecessor of the current Fundació. This proximity led to the first collaborations between students and the company, a connection that has endured over time. Even today, it is common for dual training students at Matrix to go on to become permanent employees.
